Join us at Oxley Nature Center for a workshop that will
teach you how to sketch what you see in nature.
Sketching - a form of visual note taking - is an invaluable skill not
only for artists, but also naturalists observing the world around them.
Field sketches are simple drawings done while on location, and either used
a reference for more detailed renderings later, or drawn in a field
journal used to document sightings and identify specimens. This
field-sketching workshop is designed to teach how to emphasize the
essential elements of your subjects.
We will draw along the scenic trails of Oxley Nature Center in Mohawk
Park, capturing both still subjects (seed pods, leaves, tree shapes, etc.)
and moving subjects (birds, squirrels, insects, etc.) in our sketchbooks
and journals.
All skill levels are welcome to come sketch this fascinating subject
matter in a comfortable, relaxed atmosphere.
